5_ Commnets

- Mai and her uncle Michael were having quality time together . They were seeing a movie, watching small towns Pennsylvania boys leave an ordinary steel- mining existence to figth in Vietnam, having tme together. When they were having time together, Mai was telling question about killing people.
- Oneday, Mai notices sounds i the bushes and they were all on guard. When they were getting closer and closer and they realize that its was a child, a child that was about to die and Mai hold her uncle.
- Her uncle and her felt their wer danger when they passed/ walked throught the outskirts of the village.
- When Mai went to the other side of the village, she was prepare. She had the equipment is she gt lost but, she had a sense of fear and she was scare of whats she's about to face.
- She was having a college interview and she had an "opponent". The interview was to be a battle field.

- Why did Mai and her uncle Michael went to the outskirts of the village?
- Was she in her village or in the unted state?

- ravines = a deep narrow o gorge in the earth's surface worn by running water.
- feces = waste matter discharged from the intenstine.
- deliberately = to weight in the mind.

- Like a scene out of a movie, a shadowy figure in human form drifting on a gray wisp of the floated from a cliff top toward us.
- the rows of spindly pedestrian overpasses that hovered thrity meters or so above a web of canals like a Venice in the topic.

- This part of the novel is about when Mai and her uncle have time together and the problem in their village.
